Germany – For the car freak in me!

Germany – For the car freak in me!

Tracing my path from SRM to TechnischeHochschule Ingolstadt   It all started in the second year at SRM when we were given a choice to choose foreign languages for the next two semesters. Being a student of Mechanical department, it was but natural that the first choice of language would be German. However due to limited availability, I could not take up the subject and instead ended up learning a different language (it is always advantageous to know more languages). My main aim for choosing Mechanical was the exuberant auto maniac inside me who wanted to learn intrinsically about automobiles. During my third year of engineering, I interacted with many erudite people from several auto industries as well as seniors abroad and everyone had only one thing to say – “Germany is THE destination for car freaks! From corporate to classroom – Testimonial

I decided to learn German in last week of May'16, for my MBA Program in Berlin. I started googling institutes in Chennai offering German courses. Google will throw up many institutes and including a well known German Cultural Organisation offering the language. I approached many Institutes in Chennai. Most of them were either rigid in their offerings or it did not fit my plan. I had six months in hand and wanted to complete B1. Instead of shooting down my plan like other Institutes, they made me responsible for it with customized and deadline based study plans. Now I have reached my Goal and completed my B1 even a bit before six months. My experience at The...

Taking the specific scenario of German, and survival in Germany – it goes without saying that a minimum of a B1 (3 levels) is a must for anyone who intends to make Germany their base for a few years – be it for work or study. Despite many Universities offering courses entirely in English, I would still emphasise the importance of learning the language up to B1 – just so you will have more confidence and for easy transition when you actually get there. What should you be able to do after 3 levels of German? According to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) – a B1 student has : “The ability to express oneself in a limited way in familiar situations...
