Learn German – The “Appy” way

Smartphones are in. Apps are in. Foreign languages are in.How about making a combination of all of the above? Let us pick some that would help us practice and improve our German skills. There are usually many apps that are present for the benefit of the beginner – teaching you Pronouns, sein, haben, time, days of the week, etc. Those do help for sure - but they can never entirely substitute a real language learning experience. Hi reader !!! :) My name is Babu (from Chennai, India) presently pursuing Masters of Science in Power Engineering (MSPE 2015-17) at Technical University Munich (TUM), Germany. I'm a person who is really interested in Electrical Engineering especially in renewable energy, power electronics and electrical power systems. After finishing my bachelors degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore I was really interested to pursue my masters in power engineering. As I was a soon-to-be Automobile Engineer, Deutsch was my first choice. I began my Language classes in 2010 in my second year. Wann wir einen starken Glaube dafuer haben, dass etwas passieren soll, wird es immer bestimmt passieren. Es ist nur eine Sache der Zeit und der Ehrlichkeit ! Ich habe mich dafuer interessiert, eine Fremdsprache zu lernen, wann ich schon an der Uni war. Weil ich einen Auto-Ingenieurwissenschaft student war, waehle ich Deutsch aus. Ich habe meinen Sprachkurs schon in 2010 begonnen, wann ich in meinem zweiten Jahr war. Waehrend meinen A1 Kurs, habe ich meine Lehrerin Frau Mathangi kennengelernt. Und der Rest ist bekannt ! Wir haben viele Briefe geschrieben und Aktivitaeten gemacht. Ich war auch den Klassensprecher (wie immer) waehrend dem Kurs. Wann wir unsere Zeugnisse bekommen, habe ich schon meine erste Rede (bestimmt mit Hilfe meiner Lehrerin) in Deutsch in einen grossen Hoersaal gegeben . Studying at The Languedge has been a tremendous experience. The interactive atmosphere of the classes made even a shy person like me ,talk out loud and express myself, that too in German. The friendly environment of the class combined with an incredible teacher made me want to improve myself and study more. Individual attention is tailored towards each student during the exam preparation so that they can work at their weaknesses and score better marks. I decided to learn German in last week of May'16, for my MBA Program in Berlin. I started googling institutes in Chennai offering German courses. Google will throw up many institutes and including a well known German Cultural Organisation offering the language. I approached many Institutes in Chennai. Most of them were either rigid in their offerings or it did not fit my plan. I had six months in hand and wanted to complete B1. Most of the Institutes I enquired with mentioned that with 6 months – the maximum possible was an A1 or at the best half the way through A2, along with exorbitant rates. I have just landed in Berlin on 2nd January 2017 as an MBA student of GGSB MBA'19. I have experienced suspicious brows when I say MBA in Germany. Germany is always seen as hub for an MS after the US.
