Learn German – The “Appy” way

Learn German – The “Appy” way

Smartphones are in. Apps are in. Foreign languages are in.How about making a combination of all of the above? Let us pick some that would help us practice and improve our German skills. There are usually many apps that are present for the benefit of the beginner – teaching you Pronouns, sein, haben, time, days of the week, etc. Those do help for sure - but they can never entirely substitute a real language learning experience.  Apps are usually a fantastic supplementary practice. Sadly most of them are targeted at the amateurs. But are there Apps for the intermediate user to get some practice? We have listed out some of them below : [These are all free apps. We are not promoting or vouching for them. These are apps that are useful and supplement those who are already learning German] Artikeltrainer and Der Die Das  – the articles pose a problem for all, irrespective of the level you are studying at. The article trainer keeps...

Studying at TU Munich

Studying at TU Munich

Hi reader !!! :) My name is Babu (from Chennai, India) presently pursuing Masters of Science in Power Engineering (MSPE 2015-17) at Technical University Munich (TUM), Germany. I'm a person who is really interested in Electrical Engineering especially in renewable energy, power electronics and electrical power systems. After finishing my bachelors degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore I was really interested to pursue my masters in power engineering. I also found that universities from the US, Germany, Sweden and Netherlands offer such courses. I applied to selected universities of the above mentioned. Seeing the positive intent towards Renewable energy and also other important perks like expenditure on studies, international student acceptance, food, accommodation, employment facilities, I zeroed in on Germany and to TUM of course because of its reputation and quality of education. In comparison with an ME degree from India the complexity of this course is very less. Of course Indian education is better when pursued from reputed universities. Nevertheless...

The translated Testimonial

When we have a strong unshakeable belief that something should happen, then it will. Definitely. The entire universe conspires in our favour. It is only a matter of time and sincerity to see it come true. My desire to learn a foreign language came into being even as I entered college. As I was a soon-to-be Automobile Engineer, Deutsch was my first choice. I began my Language classes in 2010 in my second year. During this A1 course, I learnt the language from and got to know my Deutsch teacher Ms. Mathangi. And the Rest is History! During these classes (which took place after college hours), we wrote letters in German and did many group activities. With a so-creative teacher and an interesting peer group, the sessions were definitely great fun (even after 8 hours of college lectures). I was also the Class rep (as it always turns out to be. I don’t know why!). During the certificate distribution ceremony, I also delivered on...

New beginnings are tough -Testimonial

New beginnings are tough -Testimonial

It’s true that all the beginnings are difficult, but if you have the correct guidance paired with articulate teaching, you will surely have an EDGE in the German language at Languedge. It has been an eventful and an amazing year with Languedge – the everyday classes, Rollenspiels and Sprechen at weekends, the perfect guidance for the exams, the insightful thoughts about German culture, the numerous creative works auf Deutsch, and the unforgettable Stadtreise……. Hat’s off to you ma’am for putting in all the effort and hard work for making Deutsch such an interesting language for me. The energy and the enthusiasm that you displayed inspired me to challenge myself. Der Ton macht die Musik- The way of teaching at Languedge is something I had never experienced before. The numerous activities and games in German made me so engrossed in the language that I started to think in Deutsch. The entire coursework transformed me and has changed my thinking, thanks to the numerous...

Overcoming your inhibitions – Testimonial

Studying at The Languedge has been a tremendous experience. The interactive atmosphere of the classes made even a shy person like me ,talk out loud and express myself, that too in German. The friendly environment of the class combined with an incredible teacher made me want to improve myself and study more. Individual attention is tailored towards each student during the exam preparation so that they can work at their weaknesses and score better marks. The availability of lot of test material also helps too. Even though I couldn't make it to the Stadtreise, from what I heard, it was definitely fun and interactive to spend a day among friends trying to speak in German in various spots around Chennai. The Weekends sprechen and other fun group activities made us learn German without even realizing that we were actually working. In my experience, the Seniors students are extremely helpful to the new students and they make them feel at ease. The Languedge...

Great ambience and friends – Testimonial

MY EXPERIENCE AT THE LANGUEDGE I came to know The Languedge through my college seniors. They said"You will have have the best teaching and Education". Their words did come true. From day one it was not like a regular class, where teacher comes, writes on the board and explain things etc. Here the teaching style was unique with tailored framework. Every work we do in class can be easily connected to our daily routine activities. The efforts taken by teacher everyday to give the best and get the best from student is one of the things we expect most when it comes to teaching. It happens to us in every class. The most effective part of class is the good ambience. People help you when you’re stuck and German words constantly keep flowing through your ears. The highlight is the weekend class. Students wait for weekend class which have fun activities, role plays, drama etc. To quote a few One weekend we...

From corporate to classroom – Testimonial

I decided to learn German in last week of May'16, for my MBA Program in Berlin. I started googling institutes in Chennai offering German courses. Google will throw up many institutes and including a well known German Cultural Organisation offering the language. I approached many Institutes in Chennai. Most of them were either rigid in their offerings or it did not fit my plan. I had six months in hand and wanted to complete B1. Most of the Institutes I enquired with mentioned that with 6 months – the maximum possible was an A1 or at the best half the way through A2, along with exorbitant rates. But then I approached The Languedge, I shared my plan about completing B1 with them. Instead of shooting down my plan like other Institutes, they made me responsible for it with customized and deadline based study plans. Now I have reached my Goal and completed my B1 even a bit before six months. My experience at The...

An MBA in Germany !

An MBA in Germany !

I have just landed in Berlin on 2nd January 2017 as an MBA student of GGSB MBA'19. I have experienced suspicious brows when I say MBA in Germany. Germany is always seen as hub for an MS after the US. Germany is one of the most insulated Economies in Europe, it houses quite a few Fortune 500 companies and most importantly it boasts of a Multi Cultural Society. I did not however prepare for Germany as my MBA destination; I would like to call it a happy accident. I started preparations a year and half back. All I was sure about is that I would do my MBA from Europe. Undoubtedly Europe is one of the best places that can offer you exposure to an array of cultures. I initially considered Institutions from UK, France, and Portugal (yes, Portugal). One of the guideline to check the quality of a MBA programme is its accredition from Equis (European Standards) or AMBA (UK Standard)...

Taking your Interviews entirely in German

Taking your Interviews entirely in German

“If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart .”   My experience in Germany certainly justifies the above saying. On the professional front, it is even more significant. Some Germans hesitate to converse in English just like how some of us hesitate to talk to a German in German, due to lack of vocabulary. It does not mean that they aren't friendly but talking in German would help to develop a better friendship and a peaceful working atmosphere. I’ve been working for 9 months now and the official language at work is German. I work in a multi-cultural team with colleagues from Germany, Mexico,China, Iran etc. but we all communicate in German. I was also able to develop better contacts as I spoke entirely in German at conferences, trainings and events. My first interview in German was for my first job. Since...
